STARBUCKS PARTNERSHIP

Bread of Life Receives $8,000 from The Starbucks Foundation Supporting Annual Back-to-School Event and Disaster Relief Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grants:

For the third year in a row, Bread of Life, Inc. (BOL) will receive a grant from The Starbucks Foundation to support its third annual All-In Back-to-School Event. This year’s event will be heldJuly 20 and is part of BOL’s bi-weekly food and supplies distribution for Houston’s underserved community. The $3,000 grant is part of Starbucks’ Neighborhood Grants program, through which Starbucks employees or alumni (“partners”) nominate organizations based on the important work theyare leading in communities across North America. Neighborhood Grants strengthen longstanding and newly established community connections that partners are nurturing and building as community champions, all in service of our neighborhoods. “We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with Starbucks, especially the local managers and employees,” said Dr. Monique Williams, Chief Advancement Officer for Bread of Life, Inc. “They enthusiastically volunteer for our food and supply distribution events, and we consider them to be part of our family. The Neighborhood Grant provides much-needed funds to fill kids’ backpacks with supplies before they head back to school in the fall. Bread of Life, Inc. can reach more people in the community thanks to Starbucks.”

This year, Starbucks received more than 33,000 nominations! The organizations nominated in this round are empowering youth, fighting hunger, uplifting families, addressing homelessness and promoting environmental stewardship. BOL is one of 2,800 nonprofits selected. Starbucks Foundation grant for disaster relief: The Starbucks Foundation also made a $5,000 donation to BOL to help replenish its food pantry, which was depleted during the city’s recent derecho storm that caused power outages and caused food loss for many. “On behalf of the Starbucks Foundation and the Houston-area Starbucks leadership team, we are pleased to share that a $5,000 donation will be made to support disaster relief efforts following the recent storms in the Houston area,” Starbucks said in a written statement. “We are extremely grateful for organizations like yours that were available to affected communities throughout difficult times like the past few weeks – as well as serving as a pillar throughout the year for community support, growth, and development in our very proud city.”
