Labor & Legacy in Houston Gala

Saturday, February 1, 2025, The Ballroom at Tanglewood

Our inaugural Labor & Legacy in Houston Gala wasn’t just an event—it was a homecoming.

A reunion of hearts. A moment where stories, community, and celebration came together under one roof. The evening brimmed with gratitude as we honored Black Houstonians whose dedication and service are creating last change, improving the wellbeing of underserved communities, and inspiring the future of our great city.

It wasn’t just a night of reflection; it was a celebration of connection and belonging. Guests didn’t just attend—they felt it. They connected deeply and left with a renewed sense of purpose and hope.

A Night of Connection and Inspiration

The evening opened with a heartfelt invocation by Pastor Rudy Rasmus, the co-founder of Bread of Life, Inc. With his words, the room filled with hope, grounding us in gratitude for those who came before us. Then, the powerful, soul-stirring rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing brought the evening from reflection to unity, creating a shared moment of reverence and pride that carried through the night.

From every speech to every hug, the Gala honored our shared roots and resilience—a reminder that we come from a legacy of strength, vision, and a commitment to caring for one another.

But the energy from the night doesn’t end here. It flows into our daily work—the support groups where Black men and women find strength in community, the youth mentoring that empowers the next generation, and the spaces we create where healing and connection thrive. At The ALLICE Collective, we believe every Black person in Houston deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported.
